It is very important that
the school be informed (by phone) by the parent or guardian, within 24 hours of
the student’s return to school, if the absence is to be considered
excused. Messages before 8:00 am may be
left on our general office voice mail (888-4867). Any changes to phone numbers or address
should be reported to the office as soon as possible, to allow us to be able to
contact someone in case of an emergency.
There are no
supply lists for high school students.
Binder, loose leaf paper, pens, pencils and ruler are the standard
requirements. Teachers will inform students
if any additional supplies are needed.
the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month will be staff
meeting/PD days, resulting in early dismissal at 2:40 pm. Teachers also participate in a PD session
every Tuesday morning from 8:30 – 9:00 am.

Congratulations Alanna Dallmann and Amhyl Manzano on being chosen for the Youth in Philanthropy's Summer Internship Program. Alanna has been placed at The Wrench and Amhyl has been placed at the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Have a great summer!
It was a great morning at SJC/GWMS as the two schools came together to celebrate our the accomplishments of our student athletes for the 2012-2013 school year. Coaches prepared a nutritious breakfast comprised of pancakes, sausages and fresh fruit that was enjoyed by our student athletes and parents. Those in attendance were also treated to a keynote address by Olympic Gold Medalist Mark Nichols who spoke of the importance of competitive spirit and good sportsmanship.
Student Services had a shoe drive for
some school children in Kabul Afghanistan. With the help of Warrant Officer,
Dave McLean, a Canadian solider stationed there, these shoes will be
distributed to the children who need them. Thanks to everyone who donated cash

In February SJC AP math students participated in writing math contests sponsored by the University of Waterloo.Congratulations to all of our students for taking the challenge!Certificates were awarded to all students during our June Celebration of Success assembly. Two medals were awarded to the students who scored in the top 25% of the national contest.Congratulations to Jayden B. in grade 10 and Cameron P. is grade 11 on receiving their medals. Way to go!
Dinner tickets are now available - June 3 – 7 from Mr. Sculthorp in Room 102.
Tickets are $50.00 each cash or cheque. Cheques should be payable to St.
James Collegiate. Students may purchase up to 3 tickets (themselves
plus 2 guests) until June 7th. On June 14th, any
remaining tickets will be available to students requiring more on a first come,
first served basis (with payment only). Please note that the dates have changed
from the mailout, due to unforeseen circumstances.
Table reservations can be made when
students purchase their tickets and all efforts will be made to accommodate any
seating requests that are made at the time tickets are purchased. You must
advise of any dietary concerns (vegetarian, children’s meal) when tickets are
purchased or we may not be able to accommodate your request. After June 14th,
there will be absolutely no more ticket sales and there are no refunds. Students
should be checking the amounts in their fundraising accounts in order to apply
these amounts to their ticket costs.
Safe Grad tickets ($25.00 each) are only
available during the lunch hour June 3rd – 6th and the
Safe Grad waiver must be filled out ENTIRELY and signed by a parent/guardian (and
the guest’s parent/guardian) PRIOR to ticket purchase. Cheques should be made
payable to St. James Collegiate – Safe Grad.
** The Safe Grad Parents have decided to offer the
Grads a LAST CHANCE day to purchase Safe Grad Tickets. Safe Grad Tickets will
be available for sale at lunch on Wednesday, June 12th. Please bring
ALL paperwork and payment.

Grade 9 students competed in the 5th annual science Olympics.Teams of students compete in a variety of competitions ranging from the classic "egg drop" to building towers out of marshmallows and toothpicks.It was a great morning with great weather!Winners will be announced at the Celebration of Success this Friday.
